Hugh Jackman was slick as Gaston in this specific production of Beauty and the Beast.
During the early days of the actor’s career in the ‘90s, he had a bit of a mishap onstage while performing in an Australian musical production of the Disney film.
“As I picked Belle up,” Hugh shared on the Dec. 10 episode of The Howard Stern Show, “a little bit of piss came out.”
Noting that he was also “wearing red tights” at the time, the 57-year-old said he was worried that the audience would be able to tell, so he had to make a quick decision.
“I thought, ‘Uh-oh,'” Hugh recounted. “And I remember Belle’s over my shoulder, she goes, ‘What’s going on?’ ‘Cause I’d stopped singing. I was just marching around.”
He continued, “And then at the end of the song, I had a choice: You sing that F sharp—and I either sing it and piss my pants, or I don’t sing it and humiliate myself.”
